Greetings Scouters.
Did the BANG's Keep you awake the 4th?
Wasn't it GREAT to hear our celebration of Freedom?

This issue is a special one in that an attachment related to
Youth Protection can be printed and kept on hand.
There have been some major changes in the program and
WE are ALL affected.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As usual, lets hear from Henry first.
FROM HENRY'S TENT.......

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY SCOUTERS !!!
At this time of year I think it to be appropriate to reflect on this
wonderful country of ours.  To give thanks for the freedoms we
have enjoyed for the past 234 years.  So some time during your
family's bar be ques, parades and other festivities take time to
thank our God for those freedoms.  While your at it you might
include a word or two for the men and women of our armed
forces who daily defend those freedomes.

One of those freedomes is the right of the people to peacefully
assemble, like at our July Roundtable  which is coming up quickly,
July 10, 2010.  We have something for everyone at Roundtable:
Cub Scout Leaders, Boy Scout Leaders, Venture Advisors,
Varsity Coaches, and Committee people from all programs.
Now that "YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING" (YPT) is required for
all leaders with direct contact with Scouts it is even more
important to come to Roundtable and get YPT certified.

There is also your Boy Scout Leaders Roundtable breakout
when our Program Feature is "EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS".
We will look at planning a camp out around this required merit
badge, Learn how to identify home earthquake hazards, and the
"Seven steps for dealing with back country emergency's"  I will
have a small display of the Boy Scout Handbooks from around the
world and I've got some outlandish "Buffalo Stories" for you.
This is all at our July Boy Scout Leaders Roundtable, July 10, 2010
at the LDS Stake center, 425 N. Kirby, Hemet, 7:00 PM.

Start making plans now to attend our "DUTCH OVEN FALL KICKOFF"
in September.  We are asking everyone to bring your favorite
Dutch Oven dish and a written recipe to share with us all.
This is going to be a great night of fellowship and Scouting fun.
Plan to join the fun this September 9th, 2010.
Come join us at Roundtable.  Your friends will all be there.

Henry.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A special note from Kimber on YPT.  See attachment.  IMPORTANT
Youth Protection Training HAS CHANGED.  Please print out the
attachment and read it over carefully.
Remember.........YPT is given at Roundtable.  If yours has expired,
why not take the time to renew it NOW AT ROUNDTABLE!.

From our District Commissioner Mike Archer:

Hello my fellow scouters,
I would like to encourage anyone who can to volunteer as a
Assistant District Commissioner or as a Unit Commissioner.
All training will be provided as well as mentoring. We greatly need your help.

For the Cub Breakout this coming Roundtable we will be discussing
how to conduct a Pack Mtg, and Den Mtg. as well as some fun activities.
Also bring your ideas and needs for future breakouts.

Thank you for all you do in scouting,

Mike Archer
3 Peaks District Commissioner.

JOTA (Jamboree On The Air) October
You'll be hearing more about JOTA as October approaches, but
its an annual event that is World Wide involving both SCOUTS
and Ham Radio Operators.  At a meeting last night, I got a "Yes"
from a couple of Hams that plan to attend at Campt Emerson
during the Webelos Woods event.  If conditions are good (and they seem
to be getting better) it might be possible to "talk" with other
Scouts in different parts of the Nation or even the WORLD.
As they say in the broadcast world...."Stay tuned".  (Ron)

Merit Badge Counselor List
Many thanks to Mark McCracken who has supplied me with a copy
of the Merit Badge Counselors.  If you need this list (in Excel) please
let me know and I will send it to you.  I dont want to send it as an
attachment in this email as not everyone needs it.  Thanks. Ron

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note from the editor:
I am running behind in getting a number of your email addresses
into my address book.  If your only "hearing" about the newsletter
and not receiving it be patient as Im working on getting all the
addresses up to date.

Also, dont forget that if you change your email address, as a lot of you
do from time to time, you need to let me know so I can update the
address book here.  If your emails keeps coming back as
"addressee unknown" it will be deleted.

I plan a suppliment to the July Newsletter shortly, so if you missed getting
your info to me, you still have time.  But don't delay..........

Thanks Ron.
