FROM HENRY'S TENT

SCOUTERS!  We have an exciting special Roundtable planned for our March Program Feature.  "CLIMB ON SAFETY".  If your Troop is into rock climbing or would like to be, this is one Roundtable you won't want to miss.  We will be joined by Elise and Sam, both expert climbers, as well as "Climb on Safety" instructors, and rock climbing instructors at both C.I.E.C. camps.  Come out March 11 to learn how to make safe rock climbing part of your Troops outdoor program.

We will then take a look at the "ORDER OF THE ARROWS''" importance as Scouting's honor society and how the Arrowmen in your Troop can help improve your troops camping program.

I will also have information on the Spring Camp-O-Ree, and this year we will be joining with the Tahquitz District's "PRIATES of the INLAND EMPIRE" at camp Emerson, on April 16 to 18, 2010.  As Commodore (Camp-O-Ree chairman) Ken Arlinghaus has challenged "Thar be treasure to be plundered me mates .. if ye be stout enough to face the dangers !!!"

All this plus a new skit, fun, and good Scouting fellowship.  Roundtable March 11, 2010 7:00 PM at the L.D.S. Church 425 North Kirby St, Hemet.  Bring a friend.

Our Roundtable leaders want to remind you to check out the CIEC web page. (see top of page).  Something "new" has been added, and it contains LOTS of great information.  Look over on the right side of the main page for "MONDAY MEMO FROM OUR SCOUT EXECUTIVE".  His "memos" are loaded with information about other districts, photos, suggestions and the like.  OH?? You haven't met our new Scout Executive?  Here he is:

Joseph Daniszewski

(not a bad photo either)

Next newsletter we will try to have a photo of our new District Executive, Tina Roy.

ATTACHMENT FROM TROOP 908
Troop 908 is again holding a Golfing event and it should be as exciting as in years past. Take a look at their flyer and if interested, get hold of them.

Lots of photos and news from Troop and Pack 310
Thanks Jennifer, great job not only on the photos, but captions as well.

Pack and Troop 310 have been very busy.
Pack 310 had its Blue & Gold Dinner on Sat, Feb 27th.
We had 9 boys earn their Arrow of Light. The boys really seemed to enjoy the Star Wars ceremony we put on for them. Complete with Darth Vader and OB and everyone held their own mini light saber.

Our next Pack meeting will be held at the Hemet Ryan Airport for March's Take Flight theme. Complete with a tour by the CalFire Air Attack base.

On March 6th Troop 310 and Pack 310 will be heading on out on a desert adventure to hunt for Geodes about 30 miles south of Blythe. We did this last year and everyone had so much fun we had to do it again. If any other units are interested in setting up their own geode hunt or gold mining trip they can contact our Guide, Craig Wiita at wiitas@aol.com or 760-424-6504. This is a great way for the scouts to earn their geology beltloop and pin or their geology merit badge.

Cub Master Sean showing Tanner what to look for.

Troop 310 had 3 scouts hike the Grand Canyon to Havasu Falls. They hiked about 25 miles in 3 days. The boys learned alot and had a great time. The waterfalls were stunning! And because they are made by natural springs with such a high mineral content the waters are a beautiful aqua and the water temp stays about 70 degrees all year long.

There are additional photos but it was not possible to process them at this time.  Look for them in a supplimental edition soon.

PACK 695 has some great news for us.
From Jack.Miles, Cubmaster PACK 695

There are several photos from our Presidents Day outing to the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda where our Cub's got to see Nixon's Helicopter and meet several "Presidents" including Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. There are also pictures from our Blue and Gold dinner and our service project which was planting trees for the Perris Cemetery. We have been busy but looks like we are going to have a fun 2010 celebrating 100 years of Scouting.

Thanks Jack.

A little "plug" for Roundtable.

Scouters.....Roundtable is for Scout Leaders, both Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Leaders means Scoutmasters, Assistants and others, and Cubmasters and
Assistants as well as Den Leaders.  Primary Leaders (for LDS units) are highly
encouraged to attend the Cub Scout breakout to learn more about Cub Scouts.

Roundtable Leaders spend considerable time preparing for that ONE evening we
want you to attend.  Normally speaking, you're there for only an hour, but the
Leaders have spent hours preparing.  If you feel you are not learning something
from your breakout, SAY something to the leaders.  They (fortunately) are NOT
mind readers even though it might be nice if they were.  If you need additional
information on a subject, just ask.  If you feel the material being covered does
not apply to you, "say something".  Remember that Roundtable is "Adult"
training so you can pass on the information to our younger boys.

One last thought.  If you have friends who are NOT receiving this newsletter,
please ask them to send an email to me to put them on the list.  Give me some
details as well, like unit, position, city, phone number ..etc..  Quite a few of our
former scouts have changed email addresses and failed to let me know. Those
I cannot track down I have to delete them.  When you sign the "sign in sheet"
at the beginning of Roundtable, be sure to PRINT clearly your email address,
or at LEAST your phone number so I can call you to confirm it.  Thanks. Ron
