Due to a recent update in BSA National Policy. 

Youth in Scouts BSA Troops 13 years old or older may now register for NYLT.

The age for youth Venturing and Sea Scouts still remains the same

 NYLT 2019 National Youth Leadership Training

Register for NYLT session 1         June 10th - 15th

Register for NYLT session 2        July 30th - August 4th

 

NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) is advanced leadership training for youth troop, teams, ships, and crew leaders. National Youth Leadership Training is an exciting, action packed program designed to provide young men and women members of the Boy Scouts of America with leadership skills and an experience they can use in their home troops, teams, ships, or crews.   NYLT teaches lifelong leadership skills. The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what a leader must KNOW and what a leader must DO. NYLT provides youth leaders with the HOW-TO skills they need to be strong youth and strong youth leaders

There will be two co-ed courses this year. June 10-15, 2019 & July 30-August 4, 2019

Registration fee $350.00 (Due no later than the participant orientation date)

TO ATTEND, THE SCOUT / VENTURE SCOUT MUST:

  • Be 13 years of age

  • Be a First-Class Scout or Venture Scout

  • Have his/her Unit Leader recommendation

  • Complete ILST - Introduction to Leadership Skills (Troops, Teams). Previously known as Cedar Badge or

  • Complete ILSC - Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews (Venturing).

During the course scouts will learn how to use the following leadership skills:

  • Vision – Goals -Planning

  • SMART Goals

  • Problem Solving

  • SSC-Start Stop Continue

  • Stages of Team Development

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Making Ethical Decisions

  • Communication

  • Valuing People

  • Teaching Edge

CIEC Venturing News:

 

If you are interested in serving on the 2019-2020 Venturing Officers Association, or just want more information, don't miss the Organizational / Informational meeting this Saturday, March 16, 12:00 - 2:00 at the Jack Dembo Council Service Center. Bring your ideas, your questions and your appetite (pizza will be served for lunch).

 

Do you know a Venturer  or Venturing Advisor who has made exceptional contributions to Venturing and who exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law?  Consider nominating them for the Venturing Leadership Award.  The nomination form is due by April 1, 2019.
